SPECTARIS - German Industry Association for Optical, Medical and Mechatronical Technologies 

SPECTARIS is the German Industry Association for Optical, Medical and Mechatronical Technologies. It was founded in 1881 and is located in Berlin. The members span a vast array of industries but share a common feature that is they are rapidly developing and are on the cutting edge of technology.

Our Mission

To represent and promote the interests of our member companies on a national, European and world-wide scale SPECTARIS is dedicated to its members' needs by providing leadership and excellent services through its team of professional and committed staff. SPECTARIS works to shape policies and influence decision-making in a way that develops and protects members' interests and contributes to the development and maintenance of an economy that promotes enterprise and productive employment.

The Association's core services for the member companies lie in the following activities: political lobbying, public relations, statistic compilation, and sector specific market studies.

On the international stage SPECTARIS is opening up new market opportunities to its members. This strategy is being implemented through the management of international cooperation projects.

The Association can be divided into three main branches. Each branch is headed by an experienced project manager and is managed according to the needs of the companies in the particular branch.

The SPECTARIS Academy offers a range of courses to its member companies.

This year SPECTARIS took over the presidency of EUROM - the European Federation of the Precision Mechanics and Optical Industries. EUROM was founded in Brussels on 17 May 1960, and represents the interests of the industry at a European level.


Previous Projects

AL-Invest Sectorial Meeting for Analytical and Laboratory Equipment at Analytica Munich, Germany, April 2006
Result: 15 Latin American companies travelled to Munich to meet more than 50 European companies. Approximately 220 meetings were held. There are currently a number of cooperation agreements in negotiation.

Asia Interprise Medical Devices Business Meetings EU-China in Düsseldorf at Medica, November 2005
Result: 35 Chinese companies met 77 European Companies. 320 meetings took place. Agreements and negotiations are ongoing.

Asia Interprise, EU-China Business Meetings in the Photonics Industry in Beijing, March 2005
Result: 32 European companies met 76 Chinese companies. An asthonishing 490 meetings took place!
There have been 20 agreements ranging from Joint Venture/ Agent and Distributor to Direct Sales and a further 9 are being negotiated.

EU-China, Business Encounters for Analytical, Biotechnology, Diagnostics and Lab Technology Sectors in Shanghai, September 2004
Result: 42 European companies met more than 76 Chinese companies in Shanghai. 250 meetings were held. There are currently a number of cooperation agreements: 1 Italian-Chinese Franchising Agreement, 1 German- Chinese Distribution Agreement, 6 ongoing German-Chinese negotiations, 1 Italian-China Distributor Agreement and many ongoing contacts.


Current Projects

Asia Interprise Medical Devices Business Meetings EU-India
The aim of the project is to bring together 40-45 European companies from Germany and the UK to meet 60-70 Indian counterparts from the Medical Devices Sector for an Asia Interprise Matchmaking Event. More Info: www.asiainvest-india.com
